It was pleasing to hear and see the reception my book received at the statewide preservation conference hosted by the SC Dept. of Archives and History in Columbia.

I saw old friends and made new ones and received praise for my book – read more about it here.

Several told me they’d use a similar approach on historic places in their community, which is one of the messages of my book as described throughout the content and in the how-to guide at the book’s conclusion.

Friends at the Conference included Brad Sauls, Elizabeth Johnson, and Craig Bennett, each of whom I’ve worked with and all of whom are good folks.

Another friend and colleague at the conference, Donna Foster (in turquoise jacket), carries a fancy title at Archives and History and is an absolute pleasure to work with — well organized, personable, and believes in preservation.

Charmaine Clowney (in polka-dot top) and me. She’s an attorney and is the chairman of the SC African American Heritage Commission. And a new owner of my book.

SAVE THE DATE FOR THE 2024 CONFERENCE!
